Our story
TJA Associates is not your average business change consultancy.
It was founded by Tim Ashman, a former senior police officer, who felt that retirement was not an opportunity to sit back and relax, but a chance to challenge himself and pursue his dream of having his own company, with the freedom to choose exactly who to work with, what to work on, and how to deliver it best.
“On retiring from the police, I felt I still had a lot more to offer, and I wanted to use my experiences of working in the public sector with consultants to overcome the common challenges and frustrations I’d seen, to be more outcome-focused, agile and less concerned about profit and cost. Tim started the company in 2015 immediately upon retiring but worked as a consultant for another company to gain experience and knowledge about operating in the consultancy world. In 2020 he made the bold decision to bid for the NPCC Roads Policing Framework Tender under TJA Associates, and despite being up against some of the big well-known consultancy firms, he won it! Over the next few years, he built up the business and the reputation for quality, flexibility and affordability.
Today, TJA Associates continues to grow, expanding its portfolio beyond policing into wider public sector and commercial transformation projects.
